CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER SCHOOL ON COMPARATIVE URBAN STUDIES, BERLIN, AUGUST 2013

APPLICATION

In order to participate to the third RC21-IJURR-FURS School on “Comparative Urban Studies” you have to go through the following application procedures:

1) Send in your application (online, see below the form). Please note that the deadline for applications for the Summer School is 24 February.

2) Submit an abstract proposal for the RC21 conference through one of the following channels:

a) If you have already submitted an abstract proposal to a session organiser for the RC21 conference, indicate in your application form which session, and attach your abstract proposal. When you send in your abstract please specify that you also apply for the school in “Comparative Urban Studies”. Please note that the deadline for abstract submission through this channel is 31 January.

b) If you have not already submitted an abstract proposal to a session organiser for the RC21 conference, then you need to indicate this in your application, attach your abstract proposal, and indicate in which of the relevant sessions in the conference (see here www.rc21.org/conferences/berlin2013 for the list of sessions) you think your paper would be appropriate. Please note that the deadline for submitting abstracts through this channel is 24 February. This channel is only open to applicants for the Summer School, and only successful applicants to the Summer School will be accepted into the conference through this channel.

PARTICIPATION  FEE

The fee for the course is 1000 Euro. This amount covers organizational costs and includes accommodation (17 nights in double rooms), a welcome reception, the e-reader, the final dinner, the registration fee to theRC21 conference and the RC21 membership. For those who do not need accommodation, the fee is 350 Euro. Selected applicants will be informed about the payment procedures.

SCHOLARSHIPS

In case you apply for one of the 15 fellowships available, please fill it in and send it (RTF / PDF) within the following deadline: February 24th, 2013.

The Scholarship covers the following costs:
1) Third School registration fee & RC21 conference fee
2) Accommodation in a shared double room for 17 nights
3) Flat travel costs contribution (up to a max level to be determined according to distance and available resources)
4) eReader accompanying the lectures
5) Welcome reception drink
6) Farewell dinner
7) RC21 conference registration fees
8) RC21 4 years membership
All other costs (board, local transportation, etc.) have to be covered directly by you.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
 In order to be eligible for a scholarship you have to:

a) Come from a country classified under category “B” and “C” by ISA (see: http://www.isa-sociology.org/table_c.htm).
b) Have an accepted abstract for the RC21 conference “Resourceful cities””. If your abstract will not be accepted this will NOT automatically exclude you from the School.
c) Send in two reference letters by scholars who know you best (by e-mail) to yuri.kazepov@uniurb.it
d) Send in your CV in English.
e) Send in the application form to the School (download above).
f) Send in an abstract for the conference if not already done so (specifying the session to which you apply).
